Lanvin celebrates 10 years of Alber Elbaz

Christine takes you to Lanvin’s extravagant celebration of Alber Elbaz’ 10th anniversary in Paris. Congratulations Alber!

Lanvin cakes
Ten years ago, Alber Elbaz was handed the creative reins of Lanvin—it was a turning point, not just for the house, but for the entire fashion world. There was only one way for Lanvin to celebrate this milestone in their partnership with the inspirational designer, it would have to be glamorous, unique and specular like every jewel and garment Alber has sent down the runway. And boy did Lanvin deliver! Christine invites you to THE post-show party of the year, take a look…
This way to Lanvin…the event was held at an ultra hip Left Bank warehouse near the Seine.
Before the parade guests were treated to tables of decadent hors d’oeuvres which lined the runway. Foie Gras lollipops anyone?
To celebrate 10 years, Elbaz raised the bar with a decidedly dramatic aesthetic. He showcased ethereal cocktail dresses, powerful coats and embellished suits cut and crafted to perfection.
The runway, punctuated with bursts of colour— deep purple and canary yellow.
Rapturous applause as the crowd cheer Alber taking a quiet bow.
The incredible lighting design.
At the conclusion of the parade, the red curtains open to reveal a circular stage at the end of the cat walk. Alber walks up to the microphone…
Hands in pockets, Alber reminisces on how his mother used to sing Que Sera Sera to him. The 7-piece band (in matching Lanvin bow ties, of course) strikes up and Alber gleefully sings his childhood song to the captivated crowd. Christine recalls it was a very poignant moment.
“It’s been a special ten years. But tonight is about the past and also the future, looking at romance in a new way.”- Alber Elbaz.
The opulent setting for the evening.
A feast worthy of Marie Antoinette, tables of cakes are wheeled onto the runway amid the guests!
Christine, connoisseur of cakes! Bring us home a slice?
Mon dieu!
A statement jewel is Christine’s go-to for a glamorous party, she chose the Lanvin amber crystal ‘Building’ necklace to meet the occasion.
A man known for his camera-shy demeanour, Alber is swamped by the press. Of course he is charming and humble even in a media scrum.
No one does the signature Lanvin look of understated cool like Tilda Swinton, who is consistently draped in Alber’s creations.
One of the highlights of the night was New York drag artist Joey Arias’ incredible performance.

Spotted: Maison Michel Heidi rabbit ears veil, what else for a Parisian cocktail party?
Christine catches up with the delightful Shaw-Lan Wang, the owner of Lanvin, and the woman credited with reviving the fashion house by bringing Alber to Lanvin. She wore the incredible eagle necklace from the upcoming collection (we’ll keep you posted when it arrives in store!)

A towering cake of stacked Lanvin tomes, an edible chronicle!
In a grande explosion, over-sized gold flakes of glitter rains from the roof.
Christine and the darling Dita Von Teese take a moment to reunite with fond memories of her Melbourne experience.
Lanvin personified—polished, modern, chic.
Revelers take a moment to bathe in the spotlight.
Happy 10 Years Alber!
